make my own electric guitar?
what parts do i need to buy? body, neck and pickups, pickguard, bridge, tailpiece, control knobs, pickup selector switch, strings and wires?? am i missing anything? has anyone made their own guitar from scratch before? how hard was it, how expensive did it get, how much time did it take to make, how satisfied are you with it? if you were making one now, what would you do different? i want to make my own fender stratocaster and i'm looking to get rory gallagher's tone (look him up if you don't know him, look for shadow play and tattoo'd lady). any suggestion on parts i should get?

I don't know how to build one from scratch, but there is a company that sells kits that you assemble yourself. The web address is www.musikit.com . They have kits for several different instruments and their catalog is free. It might be a good idea to have a look at their website..you may find something that would save you money .
