Natural Birth vs. Epi? What are your experiences...?
I am like most people when they find out there pregnant, when I was in a ppt the nurse asked me if I wanted a epi and I practically screamed "YES!" but now I am 4 months pregnant, about to find ou the sex of my baby on the 26th and reading about NATURAL BIRTH AND EPI I have no idea what to do.
See I have a pretty high pain threshold. I have gotten a tattoo, and even though labor and tattoos are way different I took the tattoo completly fine and other painful incidents in my life have also been taken extremley well.
I like the idea of having a epi on hand if you feel you absolutly need it, but this is my first child and I feel like I need to work for it, to feel the pain because in a sense that pain is the amount of love I have for my child.
*** I really want to hear what you chose to do, which method worked best for you, PROs/CONs, etc. I have until October or even before to figure out how I want to deliver.
I have an incredibly high tolerance for pain. I'm covered in tattoos, I've had open abdominal surgeries, and I must say that no pain I've ever felt took me to my knees like labor. I went as long as I could without the epidural. I usually made it to 7 cm before I asked for it, except with my second child who didn't give me time to get any drugs since the labor and delivery was so fast (2 hrs start to finish) I'm 4 months away from delivering my 5th child and I know I'll get the epidural again. I refuse to lay there in that much pain when I know it can be easily stopped. The point is you're not going to know what you really want until that pain hits you. Just remember that no matter which way you choose, you're not a bad person if you get the epidural. You're just human like the rest of us! =)
