How do you decide where to place your tattoo?
My 2 cousins and myself (all girls) are planning to get a memorial tattoo that we designed in memory of our grandparents. We are all having trouble deciding where to get the tattoo placed. Any ideas? The design will look good in all sizes because it is not very detailed. One of us already has chinese symbols on one ankle.
We would all like the tattoo to be in a place that can be seen but also have the option to cover up. We probably won't all get it in the same place. I have been leaning toward my foot..
There are several things to take into consideration when planning a tattoo... first off, sad as it may seem, the workplace or future employers can discriminate and refuse to hire people with tattoos because they're close-minded individuals who need a good lawsuit to talk some sense into them...
But I digress. A small tattoo may not pose a problem if you can cover it up when necessary. Places that get a lot of friction from clothes though (where your pants cinch at your waist-line, on your foot due to socks and shoes constantly being put on and taken off, etc) will need to be touched up a lot. If you're hoping to avoid the touch-up process, try something like the back of a shoulder-blade, on a side of the hip high enough where your pants won't grind it, or perhaps even the traditional "tramp stamp" (on the lower back).
Another thing to consider though, is if you get your tattoo on your back you will not be able to see it as often as you may like. I have one on my spine and more often than not forget it's there because it's not a place you get the opportunity to look at every day.
